Raw Honey as a Topical

Local Raw Honey & Cotton Swabs

It seems that seasonal allergies are not holding back this year, displaying all their strength and power. Pollen is liberally spread onto cars parked along the streets. Word around the town is people are complaining about their symptoms. Tellïos’ colleagues have expressed their concerns about their pollen battles. Confronted by symptoms such as itchy and dry eyes, sneeze attacks, itchy throat, and runny nose. Although the products marketed to relieve allergies are effective, they are not cheap to buy. A blister pack of 5 tablets of the popular brands on the market is currently available for $6.99 to $8.99, meaning the cost of each tablet ranges between $1.40 to $1.80. This adds up and times are tough right now.

Tellïo also has to endure seasonal allergies and resists using over-the-counter drugs since they make him sleepy even when the product is marketed as non-drowsy. He takes a different approach to dealing with allergies. The need to polish up his nutritional game plan takes precedence. From his past experiences, his peers mocked him for his eating preferences, jokingly calling his diet a primitive diet. The diet is mainly composed of leafy greens, vegetables, root veggies, olive oil, wild-caught fish, pastured-raised eggs and a little fruits.

This year, it had a positive impact, but it wasn't as robust as previous years. The following symptoms have appeared; his nose hurts and feels cut up. His nose bleeds more often when he blows his nose. In the morning, his nostrils are dry and covered with thick mucus and solid boogers. In addition, his nostrils alternate between a runny nose during the day while running dry in the evening. Unable to cope, he started rubbing vaseline into his nostrils with cotton swabs. It made no difference. Tellïo turned on his humidifier and purchased a decongestion unit (Naväge) to shoot saline water past his nasal canal. Some improvement has happened, but the cuts or dryness still nags him. Tellïo was frustrated and grabbed local raw honey. Stuck a cotton swab into it and applied it to his nose. He was okay with the repercussions if there was one. After the next day or two, surprisingly, his nose was not as tender and he could stretch it without agony. This practice is only used if his nose is extremely dry.

Tellïo in action

The decision to take this course of action stems from raw honey's beneficial properties.

  • Immune system booster

  • Reduces oxidative stress

  • Support the gut microbiome

  • Antimicrobial agents are present in them that kill bacteria

  • Honey's viscosity seals wounds from infections

  • And more!

Evidently, another critical factor Tellïo considered was the safety of the product and the producers' quality control practices. He visited the local farmers' market and brought a product locally harvested. He visited the company's webpage and made an effort to speak with the farmer to learn about their harvesting practices. Ultimately, more science and data is needed before this specific method can be advertised to the public. For now, people need to contact their primary physician for health guidance. Tellïo will continue to research and revisit the situation later to determine if anything has changed with his nostrils. As always, Stay Strong & Stay Vivid!
